Be interesting to see how this thread develops when we start to add and lose player's throughout the summer. As things stand at the end of the season when our loan players have gone back and some others contracts expire we will be left with the following realistic first team squad player's for next season (I have not included Swan, McGuane, Richardson and Fornah etc). This is off the top of my head so forgive me if I have missed someone.
Samba
Smith
Jenkinson
Gabriel
Worrall
Mckenna
Soh
Figs
Blackett
Bong
Ioannou
Colback
Yates
Cafu
Arter
Bachirou
Carvalho
Johnson
Lolley
Mighten
Grabben
Taylor
Da Costa
Looking at that list the full backs definitely need upgrading. We are 2 wide players short and I'd say we need more quality at DCM and in the striking department. I am happy with our Goalkeeper's and Central Defender's.
Lots of work to be done then.
Over to you CH, GB and FM.

As ever there is some unwanted dead wood to be offloaded. At least 3 players on the list above plus arguably a few more, you know who they are.
In addition Arter is still here. DaCosta will now return as his club have been relegated and they can no longer afford him. There is 6M outstanding on Carvalho purchase.
All the above is the 1st job on Vrentzos’ list before we look to add.

First thought?
Still bloody 20 bodies in there - at least 7 or 8 of which CH will need to try & move on.

Still not convinced by Smith to give Samba the competition and push that he needs. Agree about the full backs looking poor.

In addition to the above, Swann, Fornah, Mcguane, Richardson and Ioannou will return from loan.
Suspect Mcguane and Ioannou will leave on perms. Swann and Richardson another loan possibly Fornah the one in contention for a place.

Re the goalkeeper we have Jordan Wright and George Shelvey. Maybe R73 can tell us if either are realistically good enough to be back up? Wright is 21 now and was loaned to Alloa to get some experience but he is yet to get on the pitch.
By the way I wonder if Samba could be a surprise departure in the summer? I know nothing, this is purely a hunch but we could make a reasonable profit on him now I would think. If it meant keeping the likes of Worrall and Mighten I wouldnt be against it.

I've always thought that he could be a potential surprise departure. He's got more than enough in his locker to go to a prem team as a backup who might push the number one a bit and be a reliable understudy if called upon. If an offer of 3 or 4 mill came in then the club might struggle to refuse it.

Difficult to find a decent replacement though and make a profit overall. Will cost about 3-4m for the equivalent

I would be massively suprised if we got anywhere near £3-4M for Samba.
Whilst on his day, he is a good keeper, but he is also prone to lapses in concentration and does have an error or two in his locker.
I think he will stay here and hopefully improve even more

23 players on that list, 4 of whom are 21 or under so do not count towards the 25 man squad count.
Da Costa and Bouchirou will surely be on their bikes; Ioannou will make his loan move permanent and Almeria still have a chance of going up albeit through the play offs; whether Carvalho ends up there is anyone's guess.
I would imagine Hughton will want rid of Jenkinson and Arter.
If we fall lucky that reduces the first team squad to 13.
I would have thought that we will sign Christie and Krovinovic; surely we are well down the road as far as those negotiations go.
Ameobi will probably get another year, we have nothing to lose in offering him another deal.
That will leave us looking at recruiting somewhere in the region of another 6 to 8 players
