Our Iberians

I must say that Ribeiro is starting to look like a class player and a very good signing, I thought he was our best player by a mile last night. Carvalho is a matchwinner on his day and Figueiredo is a very solid defender at Championship level. All three appear to be excellent signings. Little Tiago Silva is taking a while to settle in and get up to speed with the Championship but it's only fair that we give him more time to show his talents, I am confident he will get better with more games and experience of The Championship under his belt.
Overhaul I think our Portuguese are much improved on last season when I thought that both Goncalves and Dias were poor.

I expect Ribeiro to cement his place in the team now, Robinson has done nothing wrong but Ribo is much better going forward.

Carvalho - beginning to look like our record signing
Ribeiro - settled in quickly and is worth his place in the team
Silva - best set piece taker at the club and worth a place in the match day 18. More to come.
Figs - back up currently but performed well last season when given a run in the side

I was a big Robinson fan but he is nowhere near the same level of quality as Ribeiro.

Figgy was terrible last night but he’s played with so many partners it’s bound to be tough to settle into his natural rhythm.

I think Figs proved last season that he is more than good enough for where we currently are.

I think they are good players who are more used to a technical game and will improve as the season goes on, however i can see them being replaced if we were to go up.

Do we include Semedo in this discussion? He is loaned from Benfica but nationality is Guinea-Bissau. Chema is spanish but what the heck, close enough. Then again Mir is spanish too!

My take on them

Carvalho. 8/10 sometimes I would like him to see him dictate games more but then he will do a sublime pass that takes out the entire defence and then I forgive him pretty much anything.

Ribeiro 7/10 promising start, ball of energy and good attitude and improving with each game so far. Cut out the diving though!

Figs 6.5/10 usually looks tidy enough but has an error in him . Probably needs more game time to improve but I suspect he is 4th choice at the moment. Not a commanding leader like Worrall but very useful back up.

Silva 5/10 I want to like him, he obviously has bags of skill, great with set pieces but gives the ball away sooo much, unfortunately for him he plays in a position where mistakes are often punished. Early days give him more time but we need to some improvement soon to justify a place.

Semedo. 7/10 A bit of an enigma, he either seems to be the best player on the pitch or the worst, nothing in between for Alfa. I still like him, match winner on his day.

Chema cant score him not seen enough, hope his confidence hast been knocked by Tuesday.

Bit too early to be thinking about that but I think Carvalho and Riberio would feel at home in the Premier League.

I forgot about Semedo. We could include Chema and title the thread The Iberians.
