With Keane likely to join him, whats he going to do differenly? Which players will he like and which will fall from favour.
Personally, think we will see a more adventurous style of play and possibly two strikers, at home at least. Will also be interesting to see if O'Neill persists with two defensive central midfielders or go for someone more creative.
Surely Marinakis will make some money available for Martin to make a move into the market. Promotion bid revived?

I think everything will be different, more tactical approaches, both are well connected in the game so good signings, more opportunity for the academy players or at least loaned out and looked after
Dawson and Cohen could be mentored for the longer term and have involvement
upbeat, more transparent media, good informative interviews, yes Keane does have a shameful past but invaluable and precious and now more wise pearls of wisdom
the experience is unprecedented, they know everything that goes, they can get a good read on whether a player is motivated and how to motivate quickly and accurately
the revolving door can now be taken out and as so with the gattling gun attachment to the cheque book
instead of looking a spoilt kid who is about to cry, if we want dour, sombre and outright morbid we will have Roy Keane staring into the camera lens
we'll have good cop and bad cop, players who let the manager down will have a way back
Judas's in the dressing room will cease to exist and probably be removed in body bags
Hit the ground running … hopefully … but there are a lot of broken and banned bodies lying around, I really don't know where they will start, not a bad thing if the club have people lining up signings as there are a lot of players, forgotten players, injured players, loaned out players, so many people to galvanise, I think he'll focus on Saturday and be happy that the club have international men of mystery to help them out a bit
They both know this is where they belong, this is where it all really started happening and did happen for them, this is the unfinished mystery, the final frontier, they have to make it work, they have everything available to them, finances, backing, the fans, everyone is onside
it doesn't feel like a desperate lunge at the big time, it feels good and how it should, really hoping for the bounce and instant made to fit signings … 3 or 4 not 20 or 30
they will not get their heads turned, they won't get tempted and then get themselves sacked, these guys have integrity (maybe not quite as much as Stuart Pearce) but as good as it will get

Well having a wee look of teams of the past he really did favour 4-4-1-1 diamond formation which has totally thrown me as I remember fast wingers and crosses into the box.
Just as an example here is his villa team
Friedel
Warnock Davis Cuellar Luke Young
Delph
Dowing Milner
Petrov
Ashley Young
Carew
The team was to break quickly with balls into zones down the wings for Ashley to run into and Carew was to get in the box and score.
I would using this formation as complete guess work but the players who this would most suit has to be Ozzy, Grabban, Yates and Carv. Either Lolley or Goncalves will become the stand out player in the team playing the Ashley young roll. The balance of the team will need looking at as the midfield currently looks left side dominate. Players that could suffer from this are Cash, Yacob, Guedioura, Hefele and Dias

Massively busy at work this week so only able to dip in and out so forgive me if I've missed something but is anyone else wondering what the delay is in appointing and announcing Keane as assistant manager?
He needs a job and I guess we would be a big draw for him so why hasn't this been done yet?. Are we offering him peanuts or is the club are imposing a job description on him that he's not entirely happy with????

MON is the first genuine man-motivator we've had here since Davies. Now AK has gone I'm actually very, very relieved because his draining, failing "you play well or you're replaced" philosiphy was only ever going to plunge our club into debt. It's fine for Mourinho at clubs with resources like Chelsea & Man U, it's not fine for a club of our stature, we simply can't afford to keep cycling players round.
I've no doubt that MON will spend, but (once he's moved on players which doesn't suit his style) he most certainly will try and get 110% out of every player he has regardless, and that makes me think we'll have a far healthier squad & club allround.
Expect him to play more direct, and Geds might get a more starring role as he tends to play with 1 DM, and 1 box to box man. Think we will see 2 forwars played on occasion, but more as an alternate option when chasing a game than a mainstay (and personally I think we'll switch to 3 at the back when that happens, as opposed to sacrificing a midfielder)
Most of all, absolutely no way in hell can he be any worse than AK at making subs lol!

Some sound points.
If Forest play 4-5-1 (one of a few possibilities with Martin...) I feel Geddy can be interchanged with Car' as a progressive and expansive AND robust ACM...leaving Yanko and Colback to hold...or Yanko to hold and Colback to go with Gedds in a more expansive and dynamic midfield role. Colback has a lot more to offer in attack and isn't being used to his full potential.
Likewise, I feel in many of the losses or draws under Aitor, Geddy wasn't used in the right way. To lock up the game or kill the game off or safely roll the dice to throttle the opposition putting Geddy in the ACM role would, in certain situations been more productive than Car'. Same with Bridcutt. Could have been useful in that ACM role. When you're up against a robust midfield, muscle it out a bit with Geddy or Bridcutt in that defensive but attacking ACM role. Put the choker on the opposition midfield. Be irritating. Kick a few. Win a free kick. Don't just give the ball away because you're a lightweight. Note: I'm saying use Geddy as ACM rather than DCM (where he can give the ball away as part of his swashbuckling style...or give away free kicks) as part of a 5 man midfield upon occasion.
