Nottingham Forest - Manchester United - League Cup Both Legs
#1
Tree
To be played on Wednesday 25th January 2023.

At the World Famous City Ground in Nottingham.

Kick off is at 8pm.

I think with the 12th man which is our crowd behind us we can really rattle these at home.

Man Utd think that they are used to playing in big atmospheres but they won't know what hit them when they walk out of that tunnel onto the City Ground pitch on Wednesday night.

COYR!

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United in a cup semi final.

It doesn’t get more big time than that.

I think we can safely say that Forest are back!!

We might be thinking we're back to the begining of this season at the end of the game!

If we get any type of result it will be a tremendous night. I can see a patched up team being fielded.

Wish they had hung on to a point at Arsenal today, they will be wanting a reaction on Wednesday.....Very nervous.

Massive underdogs and enjoy these cup games as a bonus - a nice distraction to the league games that I find hard to enjoy because of the tension of each and every valuable point. I hope we go and play with freedom and get to see some good football. It’s a good chance to get some minutes in legs too - I won’t be upset to see certain players rested. MGW is essential so wouldn’t mind if he had a rest in this or the away leg. Let’s hope we can put on a good performance and give them something to think about after our poor performance at theirs in the league

Everything you say above makes complete and logical sense.  The cup is a distraction from the real businesses..

But I desperately want to go back to Wembley. I want us to win a major trophy again and I have forked out a good few quid to go to both legs and don't want the abject disappointment coming home.

I also happen to think that should the miracle happen, its only one more game  but would lift the players hugely whilst fighting for a place in the starting line up, it can only benefit our League form.

Unless of course Hennessey  MGW and Jonno got injured in the games....

I'm going to stick with the great mans philosophy of go out to win every game and pick your strongest team....

We've got no prem game next weekend so no reason to rest players IMO. If we get beaten easily you could consider it before the Leeds game however I still wouldn't agree with it.

All these players we've signed haven't come to battle for 17th. They've come for semi finals, finals and longer term trips to Europe. Only decisions are on Yates fitness, Danilo and Scarpa or Surridge.

I think Eddie will have to sit this one out.

All i ask is for a decent performance in this game. We are on a good run of form and picking up points in the league games and i would hate for this next two games to drain the lads of the confidence and belief we have built up.

If we learnt anything from the Arsenal match it is to high press with pace and condense the midfield so they can't get out. It's a shame we don't have that pacey CB to deal with Rashford if they go long tho.

Sancho, Dalot and Martial all definitely out of tomorrow's match for Man U.
