Who's To Blame For Recruitment. Hughton Or Our New CEO?

He's had three months.

And all he's brought in is a keeper.  2 loan outfield players.  Only 1 of those arrived nearly fully fit.

Is that good enough?

Who's to blame for the threadbare squad?

Hughton?  Or our new CEO?

Does that impact results?  Can we beat Bournemouth or Blackburn with a bare assed squad?

SA.

In a word, Vrentroz.

He's created an unholy mess over the space of several seasons, failed to sign any players for Hughton permanently and built survival on loans who have now all left, and taken an age to shift over and get his replacement in who has only been here 1 month to the very day (and still managed 3 signings in that time).

I don't blame Hughton or Dane myself.

A few months ago there was a consensus that it was a blessing we had such a big clear out and it gave Hughton a blank canvas, an opportunity to play the academy players and have a younger leaner squad.

I think most would have assumed that "blank canvas" would allow for the club to fill some key positions in the first team though. Which it hasn't yet.

And I've not read anything but bewilderment at letting Ribero go and not replacing him.

It’s obvious that we’re going for quantity over quality, exactly as we should have twelve months ago.

I think some of those we’ve shifted out were short sighted and that has exacerbated the issue.

However the manager needs to manage

I dont think Ribeiro ever wanted to come back Alf. The reasons why he doesnt are another matter, not saying he is necessarily blameless in that either.

Manage what? We haven't got enough players to manage.

Fair point.

Can’t blame him.

With what he’s got.

He has to be pragmatic.

He has a good reputation, I’m not quite sure why or how.

The more I see his teams at NFFC the more respect I have for some of the players he had at Newcastle and Brighton.

What he's got is a relegation team right now.

I honestly don't think any other manager would do much different. Managers can only do so much.

You can't blame any individual. It's 4 years of mistakes made by a variety of people leaving us with a bloated wage bill and a limited budget.
