Seen a few references floating around liking the appointment of Ange to McLeish. I think that's ridiculous myself and can only be borne by Ange's similar age and advancing years to McLeish back then. McLeish also replaced a favourite manager who was doing well. But that's where the similarity ends for me.
If we'd taken say a Spanish coach who'd just won the Europa league and was previously at a top 6 club in Spain we'd all be a lot more positive about that person right now. Ange wasn't my first pick but neither was Cooper. And Karanka and Hughton were really well respected in the game when they came and look how that ended.
I just hope Ange can scrape few results because he's being give absolutely zero slack by fans who are incapable of understanding the challenge he was presented with when Nuno bailed.

Nuno didn’t bail - he was sacked. The similarity with MacLeish is that it was a vanity move by Fawaz. I just see similarities- and similar results for what it’s worth!

Ange won’t do a McLaren and walk. EM unlikely to sack him. I’m sure he couldn’t give a shit about what others say or think about him, but it would be a big hit to the ego. No one likes to admit they made a huge blunder. I think rightly or wrongly, he’ll be the manager for the foreseeable. Just need to be more clinical front of goal. He needs to start games with his best 11 and make changes. That means Jesus has to start up top. CHO, MGW, Hutch. Ando and fingers crossed Luis

Ange goal is simple this season - win the Europa league to get Champions League next season, and at the same time avoid relegation.
EM wont care where we finish provided we win the EL and avoid relegation.
This is the bedding in season for the new players and new style ahead of "planned" Champions League next season.

After finishing 7th, and putting together the squad we have avoid relegation isn't the target. Its even been said in media the owner wants anothet top 8 finish
He said win the EL and avoid relegation.
Avoiding relegation could mean finishing half way.
And when did EM speak to the media and say he wants a top eight finish?
I believe EM will settle for a trophy over top eight or even top half.
After all winning a trophy gets us into Europe again.

Agreed a trophy would be great but we don’t want a relegation battle either, that in itself becomes draining and increases pressure. A comfortable 12th-15th place is fine.

Agreed SM.
However if we avoided relegation on the last day and then won the EL a few days later I guarantee that everyone would be celebrating like mad, waxing lyrical and going absolutely crazy.

We're currently a million miles away from winning a trophy. Currently.
