I think I would agree with the above.
We were 1-0 down at home to Preston in a match that could have seen us move into third place with a victory and we could barely muster a COYR chant.
I think back to the Leeds game. Leeds were more than 'contained' by Forest. They were beaten. That was a real coming of age for Aitor's team like the fabulous result at Boro'.
But I have to give the Leeds '12th' man some credit (though it pains me to do so...) they 'handballed' that goal in for their team.
They really lifted their team. It was noticeable. They 'spinal tapped' the volume to '11' and sure enough, Forest begin to creak under the pressure. The team lifts, the chances increase and 'luck' (bah) goes their way with a blatant hand ball.
The City Ground seems to get very tense when things aren't going our way. I've noticed it when I've gone to matched. The fans seem to huddle under a burden of silence. You get the feeling that those '20 years' sits very heavy on the fans shoulders. It's been a long time since Forest were in the Division 1 (I still think the Premiership is a cr*p name...) The trauma of Brian Clough and Forest getting relegated. All of the recent 'relegation' seasons and the leadership of the previous 'leader.' It seems to have taken it's toll on the Forest psyche. I think that's going to take more than one season to unpick.
But if you're 3 points off going 3rd. That's the time to lift your side and be the 12th man? This was a very different Forest team that got battered by Preston last time around. (And we all know what happened after that...)

We need a 12th man, we don't have it.
We need to 'turn it up' a notch.

I agree, the City Ground needs to be more intimidating for away teams.
The players and staff can play a part too though (If any are reading this)...
A simple fist pump towards the crowd can soon whip everyone up into a frenzy.
I remember Hefele doing it against Newcastle and it worked a treat. He hasn't done it since though.

Darwika was doing it in the second half on Saturday but barely got a reaction.
The guy next to me (who was half tanked and quite loud during the first half) sat down in the second half and started reading his phone!

Agreed. It is far to quiet at times and we don't make it uncomfortable for visiting teams. I don't know what the solution is though. I used to think the solution was to have Forest fans in The Bridgford End but it has made little or no difference.

I hope that they, when they develop the Taylor stand...give it really loud acoustics. I think that's a trick the stadium designers need to think about to really ratchet up the sound and intimidate the life out of the opposition.
The Leeds crowd sounded really loud when they did the '12th' man trick.
The City Ground seems a little Ghostly at times (I do like the ethereal singing of 'Mull of...' It's great.) We know the Forest fans CAN do it.
We know that.
I know why they don't at times. Twenty years of '....'
But things are different know. I think Forest fans are slowly coming around to that.

I think the thing is...it's easier to do that support when you're on top. Harder when you're behind in a match. But maybe that's when a team needs it the most.

Great backing from The Red Army last night.
Be great if we can give the team the same level of backing at the City Ground.
