Its a bit of a shame because I think he might have suited Lamouchis system better than Hughtons.

Lamouchi played more of a 433 for me, Lolley and Ameobi pushing forward more with the width more from the fullbacks overlapping. Hughton is more traditional 4231 with those players relied on to cross the ball. Subtle difference maybe and one that could be explained by having available Cash as a better forward thinking full back and an in form Ribeiro doing similar. Johnsons stats suggest he is better pushing forward, dont think he would work as well a a winger and certainly dont think he would offer much defensively. He could work as Freeman was played at the weekend, not sure he would cut it as central ACM where Krovinovic played.

I'm more than happy with that. If he grabs the opportunity great, if not keep building him for another year. Realistically I think 22/23 season is the year we'll be challenging properly for promotion if the top brass actually have the spuds to stick with the current plan, and back it.

If Johnson does not sign a new contract before the end of the season his value will plummet.
No one in the right mind will pay a large amount for him with one year remaining on his contract; not when he will move for whatever nominal fee is set by a tribunal once his contract runs down. Johnson must still be playing on his Academy contract which must be on the low side; you would think if an agreement is reached it will be back dated.

He needs to sign a contract, like every other decent academy prospect has with us in the past, do well on the pitch and the rest will follow. IMO talented young players need to give the club at least one contract as a pay back for the development time and effort that's been put in. And us fans need to enjoy watching the lad play for us for a couple of years before he disappears. I can't but help think that maybe Jonno snr feels he was screwed over at some point in his career and he's seeking to right those wrongs by playing hardball over his lad. The longer this goes on, the more it will sour the relationship between club, player and fans.

The sentiments of which I agreed with. Johnno Senior was reasonably well treated by Forest. He got a big money move here and had some 'relative' success under Hart after being loaned out, he came back with goals, goals, goals before his last injury 'did for him.' I wonder what the sticking point is. The release fee? Forest have invested in his Academy development. They'd obviously like to make a decent profit on that if he moves on. It's the only way for Forest to survive or stand a chance with the Premier League being skewed to the wealthy few. SA.

He’s been great and I’m glad he’s one of ours but more often than not he makes the wrong decisions, I’m sure this will improve with minutes on the pitch, it’s just a fact of (footballing) life.

I think he occasionally makes the wrong decision and not more often than not the wrong decision. If he was doing that then he wouldn't be in the team.

From memory he's put crosses in v Coventry, Huddersfield, Barnsley that have resulted in actual goals being scored. That's not bad going for a lad learning his trade. I'm sure there are other crosses he's put in too that haven't been scored from. And add that to the goal's he's scored himself (sheep, Barnsley, Blackpool) and you cant say his contribution hasn't been impressive. And we're only a third of a way into the season, compare that record to Knockaert's from the whole of last season, I bet it'll be vastly superior. I just think he had a off day on Friday night.

The missed chance against Fulham is one that stands out recently, as does when he hit the post against Brizzle, there's a lot more examples but it will seem like I'm being negative about him if I go on, which was not my intention. |
