Dare I say it - a typical Hughton away performance.

And to those of you that believed we may be in a relegation battle - will you finally accept that not to be the case.

Anybody got a screen grab of Cafu's nose flick on the Cardiff player?

It was more than this.

Disciplined defensively - but tried to get forward whenever the opportunity presented itself.

The genesis of the Hughton Forest going forwards this Summer.

I'm well chuffed.  I've waited a good few years for Forest to 'do' a Mick side.  One of those 'barometers' for our progress and the future.  Show's Hughton 'gets' the Champo'.  It gives high confidence that we're not going down.  And we'll get the points necessary.

Probably need 1 more win and a couple of draws.

Its very nice to see when the BBC do a shot of the table for “the relegation struggle” we are no longer in it.

So anyone got any analysis on Blackett performance?

No one even mentioning that figs wasn’t even on the bench!

Slight hamstring issue for Figs?

I think the fact we're not talking about Blackett's performance says he's done decent.

Listening to the game, I thought Blackett and Yates did well.  Christie too, getting in blocks.  Unfashionable players like Yates, Blackett have done their jobs.  Bodies on the line.  Blocks.  Interventions.

Hughton put out a tall and physical Forest side.  Or at the least.  Players who can handle themselves.  Even a forward player like Ameobi is imposing in his own gangly way.

Cafu into the Krov' roll to 'mix it' with the Cardiff side.  eg.  Nose flick when somebody tried to shove him off the pitch.  I did like that.

We weren't bullied by Cardiff or intimidated. I'd call that progress. Hughton gets props for that.

Blackett did OK. Which for our left back this season is damn fine.

Good performance today, could nit pick here and there but can't be bothered, got to enjoy the win.

Old the whole most played well. Christie is looking so much better these days. Worrall and McKenna were what we needed against Cardiff, who only try 1 thing! Glad I don't have to watch more than 2 Cardiff games all season.

My view:

Positives:
An absolute blueprint for a promotion winning away performance.
The CB partnership was everything we hoped it would be.
The goal-a thing of beauty.
Both full backs very good today (links to CBs above).
Mighten- if he doesn't go up with us, will smash our transfer selling record, so long as we hang on for another season. He is still only a teenager- remarkable.
All the people whinging about the team selection are once again being shown up by Hughton.
Yates again superb in doing the job he was asked to do.
Garner-challenging for top end may depend on getting him again.
Flint missing a sitter, that ugly thug was a classic Warnock/Harris/Mccarthy player.
Taylor looked a handful and worked his nuts off to help us see out the game.
The collective attitude and effort made me proud of the boys, properly represented the Garibaldi today.

Negatives:
Grabban struggled, albeit with not much service, but he currently seems very easy to play against.
Sky were eulogising about both our defence and Mighten, 2 things I would love to see us keep for a tilt next season.
Cafu is not a 10, but 100% understand why he was picked there today and we won.

The beer/wine/dinner tastes that bit better tonight.

I'm getting used to watching away games live, but today I was sure all the games were evening kick offs...

...so after re-registering with the Forest site on 1 April, hoping it wasn't a joke, I never got the chance to see whether I could still watch live for a tenner.

Well, I could have done, but when I happened to check BBC Sport the game was over 30 minutes old and Forest had just taken the lead. So I listened to Radio Nottingham and was delighted to hear us grind out a win against a team of big brutes.

A bonus three points and the chance to reach safety that bit sooner.
