The General Feeling And Next Season

So, good result last night. We are mid table with a hard set of fixtures to come. What would we all take for the rest of the season and thoughts for next.

I would take top half of the table now this year with what I see as massive progress throughout the year. I am confident for next season. We need some good signings (perhaps trying to hold onto the midfield loanees) adding to our goal threat. Also, a left and right back.

Very excited for next year. Good manager who with a proper pre-season should have us fighting for promotion.

I have written something similiar on the matchday thread.

I am already excited for next season with CH in charge.

If we can somehow get Garner, Krovinovic and Knockaert back and keep the majority of this team together then I really fancy our chances next season.

We need a striker still though which is always difficult to find. Not going to get promoted with the current crop. Realistically will have to spend to find a decent one unless there's one tucked away in the academy...

Of course we are not the finished article lets not kid ourselves but with a bit of tweaking here and there and getting our 3 best loan players back will put us right in the mix next season. Of that I am certain.

The most important thing for me is actually being able to go to the games next season. Home and away. Missed it so much, aside from social side watching on TV doesn't give you the full picture (obviously). Perhaps I would understand why Freeman gets picked to start if I could see what he does off the ball for instance?

Then of course there is the social side...

If it's a promotion push too then even better.

Yep, I think Grabban will go in the summer for a couple of mill and we need a young striker in. I think Murray has another year in him so a young lad, him and Taylor would be a decent 3 imo. Maybe even a fourth, big target man too.

We need to secure Knockheart, Christie permanently. And i think Freeman will want to come permanently. Question mark over Ribs for me. I think we can do better to be honest. Maybe Vrentzos was right about him after all.

I don't care what he wants. Unless hes playing for £100 a week, he would be a total waste of money. If Sheff Utd expect a fee for him then 100% forget it.

We have been here before writing players off only for them to come good and prove everybody wrong.

Watson, Cafu and even Worrall and Yates immediately spring to mind.

Last night showed number 1 priority for the summer is a new striker. Murray yes please for back up and another 12 months but he cant do it on his own. Taylor looks like a league 1 journey man no matter how hard he tries. Grabban a few million? No chance, sorry not at his age.

The rest of the team, I am with you it looks decent if we can keep the core of this side together. Glad you and others are warming to Christie, hes not the best but there are far worse out there. Freeman not so much, I dont care if he wants to come, cannot see what he contributes.

As Zico says the best thing about next season will be being there.

I think Grabban availability will interest quite a few in the summer. Hes really respected in the game. A lot of managers will want him. Ok, maybe not two mill but we'd get a fee I'd imagine.

I’d send all the loanees back, even garner.

New left back needed. Ribs has cost us with poor marking and has a red card in him all the time.
Right back - jenks should be enough.

We’re stocked at cb if you include McKenna and mbe soh.

Brennan Johnson definitely for Freeman.

Mcguane - probably too early.

We need a striker who can hold up the ball and who doesn’t spend all of his time on the floor like Taylor. He’s not good enough. Juke at Brum ? Also like Kevin nisbet at hibs and our old friend Laurence shankland.

Look to League 1 and 2 - Kirk at crewe?  I’d prefer someone a bit hungry and cheaper than knocker.

We shouldn’t be a cash cow or last pay check for anyone.

Oh, and i havent yet given up on Arter. This season is probably written off for him now but if he can get fit in the summer then we might get something next season if CH fancies him. Im just not prepared to discard players like Arter and Freeman who have demonstrated over the course of their careers that they have quality.
