Derby County - Nottingham Forest

OK, Im sorry to be a killjoy but people need to stop the “we can still make the play offs” nonsense if thats what you are alluding to. If you just mean that its far more comfortable looking at the league table right now then thats fine.

We have 39 points with 14 games remaining, a max of 42 points. To make 6th place we would probably need 70 points so a further 31 to get, in other words 10 wins and a draw from our remaining 14 games.
We have beaten only 1 team in the current top 10 all season. We have scored 2 goals in our last 4 games, one a deflection and the other offside.

Reality check, we have tightened up massively, we wont go down, we are a mid table team. We have a run of fixtures coming up where we play 5 of the top 6, can we just stop getting carried away with a narrow win and the wrist slashing when we lose?

Haven't seen anyone mention reaching the play offs SM.

Alf stated a fact that we will be 7 points off sixth if we should win tomorrow, I then stated that I had also noticed that too. It's just a fact nothing else. It's been a shit season with everyone being slated at some point whether it was our owners, our manager, our transfer policy and even many of our own players.

Can't we enjoy the fact that we will be only seven points of sixth if we manage to win tomorrow?

Firstly we have to win tonorrow, then the rest of the weekend's games happen. And then a few clubs will get points from their games in hand.

6th sounds great but lose tomorrow and it will be the sheep thinking that, not us.

Don't think anyone is denying that Pap. However have we become afraid to be positive now after all the shit and negativity that has been written this season.

Agree we can be positive Sniff, nothing wrong in that. The improvement in how we are playing is the biggest plus to me, we no longer look the disjointed lethargic team of earlier in the season. We have a really good manager who is taking us forward. A win tomorrow we are top half for the first time. That will do me and is a realistic target for the season.
More importantly, win tomorrow, beat the sheep, we take the title of the longest consecutive ownership of the BC trophy I think?

It does make you think though hughton missed the first 4 games where we got no points if you average his points per game he has so far we would be on 45 points now !
That’s not far off the playoffs
Come on you mighty Reds

I just want to point this out nothing more...

After 33 games in 2018/19 season Aston Villa had moved up the league and were 7 points behind sixth.

Tomorrow after 33 games Nottingham Forest COULD move up the league and will be 7 points behind sixth.

I am not getting ahead of myself at all but it's an interesting stat isn't it?

IF we were still 7 points adrift on Saturday evening you may have a point...

I suppose another way to look at it is that after 33 games last season we were probably 7 points or more (I haven't checked) ahead of the 7th placed team but we still managed to miss out on a top six place.

I see no harm in enjoying the run we're on, no-one thinks we're seriously going to make playoffs but may as well enjoy the ride.
