Davenport was born in Birkenhead and was spotted by scouts from Nottingham Forest while playing for Cammell Laird in the West Cheshire league. Forest offered Cammell Laird a brand new football kit if they could sign Davenport, to which they reluctantly agreed.

That is a great strike rate that any striker would be proud of.

I went to meet Davo when he was manager of Bangor after his playing days, a lovely bloke.

Is it fair to say that Davo was similar to Collymore in the way he played? I reckon he was just as good.

I think it's a fair comment Duncan, both were direct and liked to turn with the ball and run at defenders, also they both scored goals from outside the box.

I think left to right, Grummit, The King Zigger Zagger, Barnwell? Tank Peter Hindley, McKinley? Winfield, Wignall? Whitefoot? Henessey? Me thinks but may be wrong

Mark Crossley saves Teddy Sheringham’s spot kick to seal victory in a penalty shootout against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in 1996 sparking a mass sprint towards the Forest fans at the other end of the pitch which ended with most of the team 'Klinsmann diving' into the boggy mud and Des Lyttle doing a little breakdance spin on his head. What a bloody night that was!
