The Strikers - McDurban - 27-10-2020 I was intrigued to take a look back at the Forest forwards over the last decade based on some of the discussions on other threads. So I pulled up the list below. If I could add one more past CF from the past ten years to this seasons line up I think I would plump for Dele Adebola. Grabban (current form aside) and Taylor are two of the best in the division, only Earnshaw/Assombalonga are probably better/evens but Adebola gave us something different and delivered when called upon. Who would others on the forum add from the past decade to take the CF's up to 4? 2009-2010 Dele Adebola Robert Earnshaw Nathan Tyson Joe Garner David McGoldrick Dexter Blackstock 2010-2011 Dele Adebola Robert Earnshaw Nathan Tyson David McGoldrick Marcus Tudgay Kris Boyd Dexter Blackstock Robbie Findley 2011-2012 Matt Derbyshire Ishmael Miller David McGoldrick Marcus Tudgay Dexter Blackstock Robbie Findley 2012-2013 David McGoldrick Simon Cox Marcus Tudgay Billy Sharp Dexter Blackstock Matt Derbyshire Darius Henderson 2013-2014 Darius Henderson Rafik Djebbour Marcus Tudgay Jamie Paterson Dexter Blackstock Matt Derbyshire Simon Cox Tyler Walker 2014-2015 Matty Fryatt Britt Assombalonga Lars Veldwijk Dexter Blackstock Chuba Akpom Tyler Walker 2015-2016 Matty Fryatt Britt Assombalonga Nélson Oliveira Federico Macheda Dexter Blackstock Chris O'Grady 2016-2017 Matty Fryatt Britt Assombalonga Zach Clough Apostolos Vellios Ben Brereton Ross McCormack 2017-2018 Daryl Murphy Ben Brereton Apostolos Vellios 2018-2019 Hillal Soudani Lewis Grabban Daryl Murphy Léo Bonatini Karim Ansarifard 2019-2020 Lewis Grabban Nuno da Costa Tyler Walker Zach Clough 2020-2021 Lewis Grabban Miguel Ángel Guerrero Lyle Taylor RE: The Strikers - ozzyten10 - 27-10-2020 Goodness me what a load of shocking players there! Millions wasted. RE: The Strikers - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 27-10-2020 I would say we are in pocket. 2 or 3 were sold for big money. RE: The Strikers - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 27-10-2020 To answer McDurban's question I would go for Kris Boyd. RE: The Strikers - Paplane - 27-10-2020 Blackstock was a fine signing. The Fawaz contract extension was a step too far but he was a decent player when he came. Good in the air and had battling qualities. RE: The Strikers - Salvatore Matrecano - 27-10-2020 Ooh its a tough one. Cant decide between Findlay, Djebbour, Macheda, Bonatini, Mir, McCormack and OGrady. RE: The Strikers - Salvatore Matrecano - 27-10-2020 In all seriousness there is one stand out player who is missing from the list for some reason - Michail Antonio who would be the best by a country mile. Maybe he was listed as a midfielder? Re Adebola I get your point about a supporting striker. I was hoping Guerrero would fit that bill, sounded like the type of player we havent had for a while. Hope he gets a chance at some point. RE: The Strikers - Squarered - 27-10-2020 I would choose Billy Sharp. I thought his hold up play receiving the ball, backing into defenders was excellent. He wasn't as prolific for Forest as he was elsewhere but he was a born goal scorer. I think he'd slot into our current team very well. Although I don't want to get into the 'Grabban bashing' there is no way Sharp would have missed some of the chances this season. That said Grabban is a player who can have droughts and then tends to score in gluts - keep playing him unless he's injured I say. Incredible we finished 7th after thrashing Grabban into the ground. Missing from that list is the mighty Rafa Mir RE: The Strikers - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 27-10-2020 It was a miracle to finish 7th last season with such a shit selection of strikers. |
