The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 23-07-2020 A lot of rash comments made straight after the game last night which is totally understandable. Now we have all slept on it and the dust has settled let the inquest begin. Where did it all go wrong? When did it start to go wrong? Who do we point the finger at? Should the manager stay or go? RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - Mcforest - 23-07-2020 Manager stays and we need to change this transfer policy whatever it is as that is the difference. RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - audiosmee - 23-07-2020 Manager should stay- although not blameless I think he has been hamstrung by personnel Players need to shoulder a massive portion of blame It went wrong as Sabri tried to get us playing as he wants too rather than what he has the players for- we have 1 striker, a ton of defensive midfields Unfortunately it’s a culture problem- it’s probably bleeding from every pore at the club- nearly men RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - Big red - 23-07-2020 keep sabri, get rid of some players bring colback and lyle taylor in among others and we go again, not long till we restart and look to automatic RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - Sausage Roll - 23-07-2020 I'd keep the manager, but he clearly has issues to address. How to break down teams who give us more possession and how to stop us conceding late goals being the primary ones. We definitely need recruits too, and if it means sacrificing someone like Cash so we can afford them then it has to be done. RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - Plymouth red - 23-07-2020 I can't see lamouchi staying but I think that is harsh. He has made mistakes but those mistakes were only in highlighting how paper thin our squad quality was. Whenever he tried to mix up the first xi we got found out as the quality of squad was not good enough. Hopefully if the transfer market is less inflated this season we can do some good business and strengthen with effective championship players. We need to try and keep hold of the nucleus of the first xi and try and invest in better forward options. I expect Cash, Worrall and Carvalho to go to raise decent sums for improving the quality across the first team. RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - optimistic_red - 23-07-2020 So 4th Jan Played 25, W12, D7, L6, Pts 43 Since 4th Jan Played 21, W6, D9, L6, Pts 27 End of season Played 46, W18, D16, L12, Pts 70 Bad transfer window, yes. No strength in depth, yes. Other teams having a chance to work out Lamouchi's tactics, yes. Major work is needed to come back from this. Can it be done with the current manager and players, I don't know, hurting too much to think. RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 23-07-2020 Just for the record, I want Sabri to stay. I think a 7th place finish in his first season gives us something to build on. However I believe he's a goner. RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - the jock - 23-07-2020 Hes a nice man. Very nice guy But to play 5 defenders against Barnsley was criminal RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - Brucey - 23-07-2020 Manager stays for me and adds stability. He’s not blameless but the January window was dreadful and we should’ve kicked on and shown some ambition be it loan signings or permanent. None of the January window have added anything and that includes the Walker debacle. Yes things are tight, but if we fell short then Worrall, Cash or Lolley are sacrificed which will likely happens anyway to at least one of them. Despite all of this and the negativity from Sabri doesn’t excuse the choking seen from the players, like to see a new fitness coach and this year I’d have them running up Wollaton Park! Not sure the big man will see it that way but at the end of the day progress has been made and highest placed finish for many years. I think a 7th place finish in his first season gives us something to build on. It's all context regarding the league position really. If we'd made a worse start, then finished really strongly and ended up in 7th and just missed out we'd all be far more positive. Being in the top 6 since Boxing Day *then* finishing 7th is what makes it hurt, and the manner of it of course. RE: The Inquest Now The Dust Has Settled - PsychoStooge - 23-07-2020 Still don't think it really matters what any of us think. Marinakis will make the decision and if we try to make a guess based on what he's done previously Sabri is in a very precarious position right now. It's the biggest bottle job I've ever witnessed as a Forest supporter and Sabri sounded absolutely shattered last night. Even if he kept the job I'm not sure he comes back from what's happened. I'd also add it won't just be the last couple of disastrous games that will be on EM's mind but the form since February 1st isn't great if we're honest: 17 games 4 wins 7 draws 6 losses, just over 1 point per game for over a third of the season, that isn't good enough for a team with aspirations of promotion. |
