A Hit Or A Flop - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 27-03-2020

A look back on some of our signings from years gone by. Name a player and rate him a hit or a flop and then we'll have a small discussion about him for a few posts and then move onto another player.

I will start.

David Phillips - Hit.

I thought he was a top player and played a huge roll in getting us promoted back to the PL.

Hit.

He was an excellent player who did the simple things really well. He formed a great partnership with Lars Bohinen.

This was when I first started watching Forest.

Dave Phillips was a hit for me.

RE: Hit Or Flop - King Joe - 27-03-2020

Hit,

Very good and versatile player, did not know that he was born in Germany.

Can't disagree. It's a hit from me. Very tidy player and a great signing by Frank Clarke.

Phillips was a cracking player, tidy on the ball and spread play really well.

His goal against Wimbledon will live long in the memory.

Hit - could play in a few positions also.

How about Geoff Thomas.

Another success.

And a fantastic bloke - who has shown his true colours in beating his horrendous health problems.

Yes Geoff Thomas, I thought he was a hit. Think he only managed about 20-30 games for us but he was class.

A gold standard of a midfielder.  Got a bad injury vs Man City in the 3-1 defeat.

SA.

Best bit of business Forest ever did was Psycho, basically got him for nowt and what a servant to the club even years after he left the club!

Always thought Geoff Thomas would’ve been great signing a few years earlier to play alongside Roy Keane. Wouldn’t get bullied with them two in the middle of the park. Top player when he played for us, shame he didn’t play many games because of injury.
