Looking Ahead To The 2026/27 Season - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 14-05-2026

One thing that needs to drastically improve is our home form.

Just four wins at home in the PL so far this season.

We need to change that next season.

The complete opposite to life under Nuno. We’ve put in some cracking away performances under VP, but have struggled with defending at the WFCG. Starting again next season with fit strikers/more options will help us to win more games at home. I don’t think too many conclusions can be drawn from the rollercoaster of this season but a positive summer and some stability will get us back on track

Stability. Strategy. Aligned thinking.

What do we want to achieve and how do we get there?
If that means a new head coach to take us in that direction so be it, but decide NOW not in October. Keep them for the season.

Incoming players that fit our desired play, that have the right attitude to be here and that we have properly scouted. Not convenient deals with favoured agents.

Some progress on the CG redevelopment would be nice too.

We need a solid pre season that’s for sure. This pre season was abysmal. Absolute mess from start to finish.

That’s a good point. We kept going with Nuno even though the writing was on the wall. If we stick with VP then let’s back him, if we don’t then let’s get the replacement in early

Yes last pre-season was a shambles compared to previous year (where we looked good). I watched pretty much all games, and looked like a kick-around in the park, no intensity plus bang average opposition. After seeing teams like Man U having full-on PL pace friendlies in USA, it was obvious we were well 'under-cooked' and in trouble.

UEFA court case obviously did not help (no idea what competition preparing/recruiting for), but Nuno's body language/attitude due to internal squabbles further compounded the lacklustre approach. Pretty much gave teams a 6 game head start, which nearly got us relegated.

Can’t see the same mistakes this close season…

No chance.

Nuno was self harming last summer.

He deserved the sack.

Something was wrong for sure. Didn't we score just a single goal or something for the whole pre-season?

I remember saying before the first prem game v Brentford that you can't go from scoring no goals in all the pre-season games to winning a competitive prem game. We then stuck 3 past Brentford and I know nowt.

RE: Looking Ahead To The 2026/27 Season - Paplane - 19-05-2026

This summer even if we signed and sold no players, just having a stable coach and squad of players who are familiar with each other I think our par is that we're a steady mid table side.

So if we struggle again next season you've got to say that's down to the way the club is being run, not coaches or players.

RE: Looking Ahead To The 2026/27 Season - Chicago - 19-05-2026

I think we will be much better next season barring some injuries. We need good vibes from the players and coaches. i think a little bit more squad depth and we could take off. Anderson staying or going will dictate where we go. If indeed the premier league changes the accountability laws then can EM go mad and spunk mental cash on some high pedigree players? I mean it is not as if the premier league isn't the have vs the have nots anyway. Everyone knows EM has ambition and money. Could this be the summer where we take the breaks off and really really go for it in the market assuming we have massive faith in Vitor and the crew?

I think we will be top 10 next season assuming we don't do something daft.

Chicago: Eternal optimist.
