The Premier League 2025/26 - McDurban - 02-06-2025 The Premier League transfer window has opened, so in essence the 2025/26 season has begun. Time for a new thread. Who would have believed Forest would qualify for European competition, how far can they go this season in the EPL? Welcome back Sunderland, along with Leeds and Burnley. Personally Sunderland were my preferred choice for a return. Let's hope the three of them can stay up and get some fresh rotation going in the league, I would hate it to become so predictable that what comes up, goes down every time. Will Arne Slot continue to ride the wave? Will City regain superiority? Can Newcastle & Chelsea challenge for the title? Are the years of three club dominance over? Will Utd & Spurs do a Forest and double their league points. What becomes of Brentford without Frank? COYR! RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 02-06-2025 My surprise package for the coming season is Everton. The new stadium, combined with the positive end of the season under Moyes will give them energy. Could be fighting for a euro place imo. RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Mcforest - 02-06-2025 If it's not the three that came up then who would be the relegated clubs. Man utd could buy their way up a few spaces so don't see them in the mix. Spurs under a new direction and keeping players fit would also likely move up. So west ham a possibility? Think palace could get pulled down, small squad lose a few players in the window and then extra games in Europe could take its toll. Then I guess wolves but they vastly improved under the new manager. As for us I think it's going to be tough to hit the highs of this year and with European football I would be thinking mid table and maybe the possibility of doing something in the cup. RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Reds73 - 02-06-2025 EM is going to invest heavily this summer. He will want another top 8 European push, plus a conference league win. We have a lot of players who are still on an upward trajectory and will improve. Added to the strengthening we will do, it’s all positive. West Ham too particularly if Bowen somehow leaves. Although his connection with the Dyer family might leave him stuck at West Ham (Bowen would be a fantastic signing for someone like us if he was willing) RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Fumanchew - 02-06-2025 (02-06-2025, 09:01 AM)Sniffer Dog (Admin) Wrote: My surprise package for the coming season is Everton. I dunno a lot of experience is leaving the club cus contracts aren’t being renewed. 4 loanees are returning to their clubs only Alcaraz has been signed, he had an alright half season I guess. And it looks like DCL will leave. So it’s around 11 players out, have they got the cash to splash? RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Paplane - 02-06-2025 For a club to go down then they usually: 1. have to be going through a degree of internal turmoil, as Wolves were at the beginning of last year, Leicester the year before etc, or 2. be a club who have ridden a premier league wave, maybe stayed up the year before when they shouldn't have, say Huddesfield a few years ago 3. be a promoted club with no ambition of being able to stay there, ie Luton 4. be a promted club who have come up out-footballing the championship but not able to out-football most prem sides., ie Southamption, Kompany's Burnley. I cant see any club in turmoil this season, apart from Man Utd and maybe Spurs (if both of those had been say a Palace or a Fulham then you'd put your mortgage on them dropping). Burnley look defensivley sound. If they can take some of that into the prem then they may be harder to beat. Leeds who knows? They'll have vociferous support but have they got the players? Sunderland? Again, good support and teams wont be comfotbale going up there but I cant see they'l have the quality to suceed on the pitch. But you may have said that about us a few years ago. I can see a case for one of the promoted sides staying up, but predicting who'll drop is a tough one. I think many will have us in that discussion again, despite our record last season. I think you missed a team being forced to sell their best players/manager (unless that counts as internal turmoil). Bournemouth/Brentford seem to be trending in that direction, can they reinvest the money from selling their best players (hopefully to us!) Brentford look ripe for a fall but Wolves remain on very dodgy ground with that ownership |
