Next Few Games - wassy04 - 15-09-2023 Just going to focus on the next little before we have another international break (ughhhhh): 4 games Burnley (H) Man City (A) Brentford (H) Palace (A) So feels like a real opportunity for 6-9 points, could easily end up being 2-4 also or worse. Feels like a critical part of the season where we can define where we're going to be fighting in the table and hopefully give Cooper some breathing room in case of a bad run at some point (after Luton we have a potentially tricky run against four top half teams so we want a cushion before that run). The fixture list has added so much unfair pressure on the team due to having such a tough opening run, real pressure to continue to stack home wins even though it's unrealistic to expect to win every home game. So Burnley up with Man City away to come, lose or draw with Burnley and you're likely looking at 1 or 0 from two so pressure is on. I would take a similar scenario to Sheff U, don't care how we play, just rack up another win and can relax and get City away out of the way. Then Brentford, who we outplayed without Toney last year at the CG and matched well at their place so feels like we have their number a little bit. Same with Palace to a lesser extent, expect a tight game with few chances, very winnable, also very loseable. Good indicators of where we are as a team given we're thinking these are the teams we were hoping to compete with in the table this year. An exciting, albeit nervy month ahead. If we somehow got 7 or even 9 points (very unlikely), just think how well we'd be set and also how tasty the league position would look. I predict 5, win won of the home games, lose to City, draw two which would be ok with me. RE: Next Few Games - Salvatore Matrecano - 15-09-2023 5 points would be good 6 or more excellent. Whilst we are confidently predicting some positive results its well worth remembering how far we have come. Because exactly 2 years ago today this happened. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58483585 RE: Next Few Games - wassy04 - 15-09-2023 (15-09-2023, 02:28 PM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: 5 points would be good It's insane that we got promoted (almost automatically too) after that start. RE: Next Few Games - Fumanchew - 15-09-2023 This was how we were last season after 8 games (1 postponed Cus of the queen) 4 straight defeats: 6-0 City Away 3-2 Bournemouth home 3-2 Fulham home 4-0 Leicester away We’ll definitely do better then that return, and we already have more points then we did at GW5 RE: Next Few Games - Redreg - 16-09-2023 Im going 7 points Palace is a point away win both home games and a spirited performance away at city who have the start of the CL to contend with this week RE: Next Few Games - Tricky - 16-09-2023 Correct me if i'm wrong, but I seem to think we were the last team to take any points from Man City. The draw at our place, last season, was the last point they dropped. How awesome would it be if we were the side to take the first point(s) from them this season  RE: Next Few Games - Sausage Roll - 16-09-2023 (16-09-2023, 06:30 PM)Tricky Wrote: Correct me if i'm wrong, but I seem to think we were the last team to take any points from Man City. RE: Next Few Games - Salvatore Matrecano - 16-09-2023 No quite Tricky, they didn’t win either of their last 2 league games last season and lost to Brentford last day. Assume they were a bit hungover though and had nothing to play for. Didnt win Community Shield either. However The last time they lost points in a meaningful Premier League game ie when there was something to play for was indeed at the CG.
