You have to remember that 2 seasons ago we recorded a profit of 32m after some clever financial engineering.

Income has risen by just over 2.5m; this increase has come from across the board - Advertising and Sponsorship, Catering, Attendance money, Commercial and Retail - all showing an increase in revenues.

That's the good news!

Although we displayed a profit of 10.5m on transfers we have recorded an 8m write down for releasing players.

Wages have jumped from 111% of income to 124% of income; some of this additional spend will have been for paying off the players released and some of it will have financed Karanka's signings.

There were rumours at the time of his resignation that he had been asked to off load some more players; looking at the figures I would guess that definitely happened.

The jiggery pokery with the declared profit makes a lot more sense now, especially given the timing as this would be the last chance to clear the decks.

   Ty.  It's good to have a common sense break down of what's going on.

The club are doing everything in their power to improve the squad whilst keeping 'on the nose' of FFP.

If Webster went Brighton for 20m I'd expect Worrall to be going for the same amount. One thing i am not worried about is these owners ability to get a good fee for our players.

£50 million.  That would go along way to building a side for the top 2.

Ofc.  I like the players mentioned.  But to be devil's advocate...

Lolley has been largely indifferent this season compared to last.  Cash didn't start too well.  Only last season Worrall wasn't that popular because of his 'mistakes.'  And Pants was 'good enough' for the top 6.  Samba didn't seem that great in the last match.

That said.  Ripping up the 'chemistry' of a good side?  See Paul Hart's play off team for details.

I don’t get the accounts or the 3 year ffp calculation other than there is a hefty 20m + in it for 2 more years leaving 19m for the other 2.
This needs to be looked at by the efl anyway or the prem will become a closed shop and the championship will die.
Also goes to show how well we are doing to compete - Fulham and West Brom have a huge advantage on us as well as a host of other clubs like stoke, Cardiff and Huddersfield.
I’m also very interested in the punishments for the FFP breaches. Only seem to have gone after bcfc who took the piss when they bought a player whilst in embargo. Villa, Derby, Reading, Sheffield Wed have got away with big overspends seemingly without punishment.

Sky.  Premiership.  To me, it's become all that's wrong with 'unleashed' Capitalism and the 'Shadow of Greed' which seems to have got worse over the last twenty years and emboldened since the day light 'robbery' of 2008 which seems to have benefitted the 0.1% whilst austerity (and the bank bail out) is paid for by the tax payer.  I find it ironic that prudence is being preached in the running of football clubs.  Still, better 'some' responsibility than more football league members like Bury going to the wall.  Bury fans can feel somewhat aggrieved.

Even Man City are being 'fined' or punished for bending the rules.  (Which they are appealing?)  But their slap on the wrist will be relative to the fact they have already had two Premiership wins.  So they won't be able to play in Europe?  Cry me a river.  Or that some clubs get promoted under the dim witted and delirious response of the footballing authorities.

The clubs mentioned.  They seem(?) to be getting away with it.  eg.  Will Derby get a points deduction for the Ground sell 'dodge.'  THIS season?  Or will Rooney and Derby storm the play offs with yet another 'roll of the dice.'  (What else can they sell 'next' time?)

Didn't Forest under Fawas get transfer embargoed which could have seen Forest relegated given how things were.  I remember Dougie doing very well 'in context.'

RE: NFFC Financial Talk - Strawberry Avenger - 04-03-2020

I remember when the 'pull the ladder' up league was discussed when Forest were in the 'top flight.'

I didn't like the idea then. And I still don't.

I think Premiership still sounds like a Star Trek spaceship. It's mere branding for...

It will always be the '1st Division' to me.

RE: NFFC Financial Talk - Sabricadabra - 04-03-2020

And the Championship will always be the second division.

RE: NFFC Financial Talk - Jasper Scarrott - 04-03-2020

Some good debate on this thread but have we all become financial experts all of a sudden?

Do people really think we are going to sell Cash, Worrall, Lolley and Samba? Just rip it all up and start again. No chance.

Pantilimon should command a decent fee, Benelouane also if we choose to sell him. Tyler Walker also could be added to that list. Our owneres have proved that they are capable of getting good fees for players. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jenkinson sold if Darikwa proves his fitness. We may choose to sell Mighten or Johnson (hope not) but we have history selling our young talent. One or two jumping to conclusions though that we will have to sell Cash, Worrall, Lolley and Samba. Simply not true. Perhaps one will be sold but I can't see it being more than one.

We’re likely to be £10m within FFP according to Kieran Macguire, who is a financial expert.

Some are overdramatising it as usual.

Yeah this year maybe but now we're carrying a big hit for future years. This is intentional of course but it means with a £25m loss every year we need to offset it with approximately 10m in player sales each year, which we've already done this year.

I would expect one player to go, not sure who yet, probably cash

Cash is the most obvious talent to attract big bids but I think Worrall's leadership qualities will also make him attractive as a long term signing. Dyche has recognised he has something special and I'm sure others will also have their eye on him.

But, both Cash and Worrall have a deep rooted connection to the club whereas someone like Samba, who doesnt have the same ties, could well be tempted away the moment a mega money transfer were to be offered.

Yeah that's a fair point, I was thinking more from the clubs perspective and either of cash or Worrall would be easier to replace/ready made replacements already here. Also Samba wouldn't command as big a fee

Unless they sell a young lad again. Mighten? As we experienced with the Appiah, and Bamford sales, these lads can bring in mega money and there's minimal fan revolt.

Back to Cash, we do seem to have 2 experienced alternative players in that position, so that could be a decisive factor for the club as, with no replacement needed, the sale would be 100% profit.
