Based on the recent form with just the striker position being a bit if a conundrum you do have to wonder how toney would be getting on if we were actually in for him in the summer. I know it's not helpful to think like that but hey.

Who's the next brit, gayle, toney coming through that we could snaffle i wonder?

The big unknown is what impact the lack of a years worth of match day revenue will have. Hard to imagine we will spend much in the summer unless we can sell one of the academy prospects for a significant fee.

Was there no decision made on whether owners could directly write off covid incurred losses or is that unfair on L1 and L2 teams?

I'd try holding onto Knocker. He was superb vs Derby. Just needed a goal to cap off a great display. His best yet in a Forest shirt.

New left back needed. Ribs has cost us with poor marking and has a red card in him all the time.
Right back - jenks should be enough.

We’re stocked at cb if you include McKenna and mbe soh.

Brennan Johnson definitely for Freeman.

Mcguane - probably too early.

We need a striker who can hold up the ball and who doesn’t spend all of his time on the floor like Taylor. He’s not good enough. Juke at Brum ? Also like Kevin nisbet at hibs and our old friend Laurence shankland.

Look to League 1 and 2 - Kirk at crewe?  I’d prefer someone a bit hungry and cheaper than knocker.

We shouldn’t be a cash cow or last pay check for anyone.

We would be crazy not to try and get Garner, Krovinovic and Knockaert back. You cannot replace these type of players with players from League 1 and League 2.

Send all the loanees back?! This is the first time we've managed to sign some decent loan players. The transformation in the last month since Garner and Krovinovic came in is ridiculous really. We suddenly look like a team that can actually play football. Even the drop off in midfield when Garner missed Rotherham was obvious.

They have exposed our previous central midfielders for being what we all suspected (not very good) if we can somehow bring them back it would be amazing. Also Knockaert is comfortably our best attacker.

And Freeman plays.... OK I have nothing on him.

Id go further. This team looks like a comfortable top 6 team to me.

Think of the chances we've missed recently. Could've also beaten Swansea and Barnsley as well as Derby and Blackburn would've been much more comfortable

Showing better form than Bournemouth or Reading of late.

If we could have taken the points off those teams listed (that the performances merited)...we'd have been at least another 7-9 points better off.

Turns our 40 into 49 points and 'just' off the play offs.

I'll stick my neck out.
This time next year we'll be playing in front of sell out crowds and challenging for top 2.

RE: The General Feeling And Next Season - Salvatore Matrecano - 02-03-2021

I hope so Boatsy, I genuinely thought we would be top 2 this season when Lamouchi signed his new contract this time last year. Strange how its turned out but on your other point, sell out crowds, definitely when we do finally get in that position I want be there to see it and it will be fantastic.

I never felt Sabri had the bottle for it after the tail end to the season. Little lamb lost. Seemed to have had his head turned.

And that 'Big Boss' (alleged) team talk castrated whatever authority, respect and belief the team had.

A catastrophic 'pre-season' (*stifles a laugh...) and a sprawling transfer policy didn't help with a train wreck start to the season.

He'd been rumbled. Forest were simply. And easily. Beaten.

Welcome the calming, measured and patient waters of Chris 'Italian Job' Hughton.

Belief slowly restored. Compact competitiveness. And an incisive January window that has been transformative with a mere '5' players.

I'd expect top 6-8 at least had Hughton not started in October. In fact, had he been holding the cards of the Summer transfer window, easily top 6...with a promise of a top 4 knocking on top 2.

RE: The General Feeling And Next Season - Mcforest - 03-03-2021

I will say that next season we will be around the top of mid-table. We will be a team that is hard to beat but not found the formula for turning draws into wins. Still a work in practice as wholesale changes in players and style needs to be addressed and one window and preseason will not be enough to change the defence first and sit back mentality.

RE: The General Feeling And Next Season - Salvatore Matrecano - 03-03-2021

Its really too early to say for next season. We dont even know for sure what league we will be in yet. This time last year Lamouchi had just signed a new contract, not even the biggest pessimists thought he would be gone by October.

I hope we will still have Hughton. I hope we can hang on to Worrall and keep the spine of the team together. Hopefully we get Garner and Krovinovic back. Sign a decent striker and one or two others and things could be rosy.

But one or all of those things may not happen. We could have another whole new team and new manager in other words God knows where we will be. But either way hopefully we will all be back at the WFCG to see it unfold.

I agree that it's too early. I expect us to be up there challenging but until I've seen the summer ins and outs it's too early.
