I wouldn't expect us to replace him with someone as good, but the fact that Yates - a kid still very much learning his trade who prob needs another year or two - is his cover is shocking really.

The drop from Sow to Yates is huge. We should have someone at least a bit more seasoned to fill in.

It's a shame that we didn't keep Geddy. I was happy to see him off the wage bill, bbut in this setup I think he'd offer us more than Yates.

Not sure about Geddy but any attacking additional midfielder would have been a bonus at this point. Semedo and Bostock's failure to establish themselves has been costly.

Not a 'joke' but more likely part of the reality of shifting gears from a high wages turnover club to a well run club.

5th proves they are doing something(s) right.

Gueddy was spent and inconsistent at best.   He was on good money for not playing half the time.  That isn't sustainable to have (he was one of about 9+ players not playing half the time...) that.

Forest brought in the 'more' seasoned 'Bostock' but it didn't work out.  So we play Yates who is on the road to being 'that' player.

Just as Cash and Worrall were over the last 3 years.

Forest have been badly run in the past.  It takes time to shape a new reality.

SA.

Explain the first bit regards "shifting gears" mate? How does that affect the fact that there's no genuine middle-ground cover between Sow & Yates?

See Bostock osn't more seasoned. He's not played in this league for ages until this year. Geddy was at least playing in it (albeit he was getting past it)

All our squad apart from Zach Clough & the academy players have been signed by the new owners. If we're being weighed down by wages & suchlike, that's down to this regime, not the last one.

Ouch!

So does everybody now believe Lamouchi when he left them out against Carlton because they were carrying knocks?

I remember many were very quick to criticise that decision.

So it looks like we have one or two players carrying knocks and a bit of fatigue in the squad.

Some players now need to step up and grab their chance.

I am thinking of Carvalho, Walker, Semedo all capable of performing well at this level in my opinion.

Time for them to show what they are capable of.

This ^ I keep hearing about Carvalho's undoubted ability, time to start showing it. We need him, now.

Sounds as if it might be a good time to be playing them.

RE: Cardiff City - Nottingham Forest - Tomnedreb - 25-02-2020

Tomlin out injured, which is good news for us. He was their best player along Mendez-Laing when we played them in November. They have five draws and one victory in their last six at home, so big change of this ending 0-0, or at least a draw. Having said that, I believe playing Cardiff away suits us quite well with our style. They also have pressure to win at home if they want to reach the play-offs. My hope is that we do the same against them as they did to us in November. Nick a early goal and defend for our lives. The game is also on Sky tonight, and at least compared to previous seasons, we do well when the game is on live tv. But with our record against them, I dear not dream of anything

For sure. Which is why they were not even on the bench.

Me neither. And I think all 3 will play tonight.

RE: Cardiff City - Nottingham Forest - Alf Garnett - 25-02-2020

Not sure about all 3, perhaps two but I think only one will play.

Just a feeling but I think we will line up somethong like this...

Samba
Cash
Worrall
Figs
Ribo
Watson
Silva
Carvalho
Lolley
Walker
Ameobi

Probably completely wrong  :)

RE: Cardiff City - Nottingham Forest - Ciscokid - 25-02-2020

You might be wrong Alf but yours is an interesting line up. Would give us a clearer idea as to whether young Walker is up to task or not. I know we all want him to excel but I feel that there's a split camp as to believing that he can make it at championship level. On balance I sadly think that he won't but I really, really want to be wrong.

It would also give us some idea of whether Carvalho has finally stepped up to the mark or not, as i feel he is really becoming an expensive drain on our resources whilst he is not playing or delivering the goods!
