RE: Brennan Johnson - Redgirl - 18-10-2022

I think Johnson needs to be taken out of the firing line, use him as an impact sub. He looks at the moment like he has forgotten how to play, his movement and positioning are awful.
In an ideal world he would have time to sort himself out and to play himself back into form. However it isn’t an ideal world and we don’t have the luxury of time to see if a player can come good or not.

Every time the balls goes near him, he either runs away from it....it bounces off him.....he gets tackled easily........or some other way of losing the ball.

A lot of people can see it very clearly.

A lot of people are also blinded like Cooper and think that keep playing him will suddenly make him better - whereas what he needs is to be benched and kicked up the ass..........like his stint in League 1.

He is not cutting it.......he is poor defensively and others nothing in terms of holding the ball up..........and in the current time he needs to be dropped and we get a stronger ball holding/passing midfield in place.

If we do not..........expect Brighton to run rings around us tonight and it will be another 90 minutes of chasing shadows.........

At some point even an idiot realises doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result will not work.

Not just him is all I'm saying. Our defence has been shocking JOHNSONS FAULT. Midfielders can't string 2 passes together JOHNSONS FAULT and please don't call me an idiot because I bet I know more about Forest than you realise. All I'm saying is HE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE THATS BEEN A LET DOWN. If you're going to say drop a player then be consistant with other players as well. Ok so if he gets dropped and we still get beat by 2/3 or 4 goals who are you going to blame then ???

RE: Brennan Johnson - Salvatore Matrecano - 18-10-2022

Forget about making this about Johnson.
How about we pick 2 forward players most likely to get us a goal. Awoniyi and Dennis have a natural bond and understanding off the pitch and are both proven scorers. But for some reason they have never been paired together. Surely worth a go?
Yes Johnson off the bench on 70.

Virtually very other player in the side has been dropped this season as Cooper grapples with the task of trying to find his best combination. But Brennan remains. Why? I cant understand it. Apart from 2 solitary shots that he scored from (one being a penalty), Johnson's contribution to the season has been absolutely zilch. He's not having any shots on goal, hes not putting crosses in, he's not covering the defenders, he's not beating defenders anymore, hes not being an adequate out ball for the defenders.  Other players have come in and made some kind of impression  (not much but they've shown a little bit of something) but there's been nothing from BJ and he's still in the side.

Hes not the reason the team are at the bottom of the league but he's not contributing anything at all to the cause. We all know he's a lad with a big future but he's not up to scratch at the moment. We have Dennis fit now and so have another option. Him up front with Awoniyi Id like to see. And bringing BJ's pace on at 70 mins would be a formidable weapon.

I absolutely agree with nearly all that Pap but again hes a young lad with still alot to learn and playing in the Premiership is a different beast to the Championship but I get annoyed when just one young lad is getting blamed for everything from us being at the bottom of the table to the cost of living crisis and the war in the Ukraine.

MGW has yet to be dropped either, started every game since he's been available.

100% agree, I don't get why people need to have a scapegoat, no-one is claiming he's been great (joint top scorer this season though... :giggle: ) However I could make a long list of issues for every player in our team this year and their flaws/mistakes.

If you want game defining mistakes, how about Awoniyi missing an open goal vs Bournemouth or McKenna's horrendous mistake vs Bournemouth or Boly's defending vs Fulham or Henderson keeping vs Villa or whoever was at fault vs Everton (Worrall?) or Toff's handball on Sat or Awoniyi's sitter vs Leicester or the defending vs Leicester or the defending vs Spurs for Kane's goal.

It's a team effort to be this bad! But fine shit on our best player (on paper) and future of the club. That'll help us turn it around.

Well I'm certainly not blaming him for the ills of the side but I like to call things as I see them and BJ needs some TLC and to take a rest atm. And he's needed it for a quite a while now. What he's achieved in the last 12 months has been prenominal, making his championship debut, making his international debut, getting promoted, getting to the world cup and now playing in the premier league. Has there ever been a Forest player that has achieved so much in 12 months? I doubt it. And he's only 21!. But, we cant hang around any more and wait while the led gets up to speed. IMO his selection is compromising us considerably and we're just a couple of defeats away now from having our relegation confirmed. If we go 7 or 8 points adrift of 17th then there's no coming back from that.

And the same applies to some other players (who haven't been restricted by injury). Henderson, Williams, Freuler, Lingard, MGW, Awoniyi - all these players with big reputations need to step up now and start performing. We've got no buffer left. We need to start winning games NOW or we're done.

I'd argue though Wassy that despite not looking up to much he's been our best player on a number of occasions. He always wants the ball, is always trying to do something at least.

I've been calling for him to be dropped for a number of weeks now and this general call now from the fans for him to be dropped is a result of the missed penalty and the stuff that JJ said about him on Match of the Day. I've been seeing it for weeks now. His influcene on games has receeded and his confidence is shot. If Cooper drops him tonight it'll suddenly be a big deal now after all the attention he's received. If he had dropped him 2 or 3 games ago, maybe when the decision was made to go back to a back 4, then no one would have batted an eyelid. Bad management by the coach imo.

RE: Brennan Johnson - Redgirl - 18-10-2022

No one is making him a scapegoat, he just needs taking out for his own good, bring him on as a sub, hopefully he will do some damage to the opposition and build his confidence.

Leaving him in for the crowd to get on his back is surely doing him no good. He’s only 21 he needs careful management.

Well said RG, I fully agree with what you are saying
