RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Salvatore Matrecano - 29-12-2020 One of my favourite ever nights at the CG. Bank holiday evening, everyone a few beers to the good, mist rolling in, terrific atmosphere, smashing the Sheep. As well as the 5 goals we had a feeling we were going somewhere that season under BD, we had just started to put a run together and I think it was the last season I felt truly optimistic. Remember walking out of the Trent End that night and just looking at peoples faces, literally everyone singing, laughing and grinning from ear to ear, it was just brilliant. RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 31-12-2020 OnThisDay 31/12 in 1989, Brian Clough celebrated his 1000th game as a manager. Nottingham Forest won 3-2 at Tottenham. RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - ThePromisedLand - 31-12-2020 With goals from Nigel, Crosby & Parker. 3 - let’s say - diminutive players. And cost virtually nowt. We can but dream... RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 03-01-2021 On this day 3/1 in 2009. Tyson, Earnshaw and Garner were all on target as Forest ran out 3-0 winners against Manchester City in the FA Cup third round. RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 04-01-2021 On this day 4/1 in in 2009. Billy Davies was appointed as Nottingham Forest manager for the first time. RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Username - 04-01-2021 Was Billy Davies in the stand for the Man City game? If so then surely those two events happened the same year? RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - ThePromisedLand - 04-01-2021 Yep. We beat City in 2009. RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Salvatore Matrecano - 04-01-2021 Yep the FA Cup game vs Man City was Jan 2009, John Pemberton as caretaker takes the credit with wee William in the stands. Davies won his first 3 games, then lost 7 out of the next 11 to leave us in big danger of the drop. He ground out some results from the last 6 games to finish in a comfortable 19th place which I would happily take this season too. RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 05-01-2021 5/1 in 2014. Seven years since Forest dumped West Ham out of the FA Cup with a 5-0 win at The City Ground. Jamie Patterson hattrick, Abdoun’s Panenka pen which none of his team celebrated with him and the West Ham kid crying on tv. RE: Nottingham Forest Archive - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 06-01-2021 On this day 6/1 in 1975, Nottingham Forest announced Brian Clough as their new manager. The rest, as they say, is history. |
