Watching him yesterday, he moves into space between the lines so intelligently, but then, if the ball came to him, gets delivered the ball at head height half the time, or a second or two late, meaning the space has closed down.
If I were the manager, I would be instructing all of our "back 6" to get the ball to him as much as possible, as early as possible and most crucially on the deck!
If we had launched hit and hope balls into and over Robbo's head (John not Jack) would he have been able to destroy England and Europe the way he did?
He is top drawer, no doubt, sadly, all too often we are not. Feeding off scraps like yesterday, even Messi would have struggled to make an impact.
Give the lad the ball alot more and watch them go!

Yep if we do change manager you’d hope we’d be prioritising someone who would get the best out of him. Ideally someone who’d play tactics that keep the ball on the ground more as suggested above.
That would rule out most of the candidates though!

That said, I love watching Carvalho play, he is a proper footballer and maybe a couple of quality additions will see more Villa type performances from him and Lolley rather than Millwall type. In fairness, Millwall closed down space and our wide men didnt really play that wide.

Too many ifs and too many buts in regard Carvahlio at Forest....he might leave us to go to Italy for half we paid nd turn out to be the new Ronaldo. .but the truth is that He is not what Nottingham Forest need now and fir the money spent. We need an accomploshed footballer that gives us 8 out of 10 performances week in week out...scores goals on a regular basis...in short a Collymore or Gullit....The Carv even though talented he is not a match winner on his own....he needs other talented players with him...if Lolley nd Grabban are marked out ( something that teams started to do now)...he is like a kid running around with nothing to refer to...so...no use to us...many in here wanted him to be replaced by Tomlin!!! ...a player that is going to end up in L1... that shows u how effective he is...

For me he was always a luxury signing - someone who you develop in the premiership not a player to get you out of the championship. I would have personally preferred 2 or 3 established players in that role for the money spent. It remains to be seen if we`ll see a return on that investment - he certainly has shown he has talent.

To be fair, it's very difficult to find "match winners on their own" for any amount of money. Colleymore looks to have been a once in a generation signing for Forest. For two years he was arguably the most devastating player in the country. Its a team game and Carvalho, whilst blessed with fantastic individual ability, is a team player. No one -not even Stan won games on their own. Franks team was solid at the back and had good ball players, with pace going forward. The other players helped Stan thrive.
I wish we had the patience to build a team around Carvalho, but in reality we probably don't. Gullit though? Not in he Championship. When you look at the players signed for big money in the Championship it is interesting: McCormack, kodja, Hogan, Neves, Carvalho spring to mind.

Couldn't agree more.
I still think he's got enough to take us to the playoffs, it's just how much he relies on others for a 13m buy. For that money he should be a go-to player who turns the odds in our favour, but in reality he only ever seems to do well when the odds are in our favour.
Will be a class act one day, but we need another option for when he's not firing for the rest of this season at least.

I think he's a fantastic player. He is trying to play everything 1 touch and the rest of the team aren't as quick. Put him with better players and I think he'll look amazing.
It'd be good for him to drive forward more often and take the shot himself rather than the final killer pass.

Agree with this, he can keep the ones where we shoot but his corners are offering no threat. Should also be pointed out the second corner goal was lucky. They tried to take it short, Osborn fumbled it so ended up crossings instead. Worked a solid a perfect dummy, drew a man across and created a run for murphy
